VOLTAGE WRESTLING

MATCH PREVIEW: Cory Bush v. Brandon Scott

5/10/2021

Conflict defines the history of humankind.

The struggle against expectation defines the individual.

Come June 5 at O’Connells Irish Pub in Martinsburg, West Virginia, the matchup Cory “Weight of the World” Bush v. Brandon “Mr. X-Cellence” Scott may very well be the defining battle in the opening round of the tournament to crown the FIRST EVER Voltage Wrestling Grand Champion.

The Tri-State has a reputation for breeding formidable competitors, and these two combatants are no exception. Hagerstown borne, Hagerstown bred, Cory and Brandon are both products of the 1-81 corridor wrestling scene. And while Brandon left the area in the pursuit of accolades elsewhere, Cory remained to dominate the scene, winning every championship there was to win on home turf.

But a new one has been forged, fresh and without a bearer. And for men of this athletic caliber, glory is the goal - wherever it may be found. And a recent - and surprise - appearance on The Podcast Pit by Cory Bush drove the point home. For him, it’s not about the past, but what comes next.

“When I want championships, I come in, I find the guy who has them and I take them. And my track records says that's not a lie,” he told hosts Mike Ratick and Rennes Carbaugh. “The letters don’t matter, the marquee does. And the marquee more times than that not has said Cory Bush versus the champion and the champion loses.”

Ratick did challenge that Brandon Scott has the speed and technical prowess to withstand the power of the heavyweight. But as Cory retorted, “everybody has a plan until they get hit.”

“Doesn’t matter how many times you can jump, roll, flip, or dive. When you get hit with the weight of world, your skill set means nothing because you don’t have enough air in your lungs to keep fighting.”

With just under a month to go, the Voltage Grand Championship Tournament is shaping up to be a clash of light and heavyweights alike. But in this SHOCKING DEBUT of Voltage Wrestling, anything can happen.

The countdown is nearing its conclusion. Will Brandon Scott respond to Cory, and what choice words will Mr. X-Cellence have for the Weight of the World?

And you can be absolutely positive that as June 5 approaches, we’ll be hearing from the remaining participants in this Grand Tournament to crown the FIRST EVER Voltage Wrestling Grand Champion.

Grand Championship Tournament starting to take shape

4/12/2021

Picture
With one more match to be announced, Voltage Wrestling officials released the brackets for the Grand Championship Tournament on Monday morning on social media. Upon first glance, the term "stacked" would be an understatement. The brightest and the best area stars have been assembled to take part in the one-night tournament to crown the very first Voltage Wrestling Grand Champion. Let's take a look at the competitors announced thus far.

"Big Trouble" Ben Bishop - During the pandemic, the 7ft tall rookie has been extremely active on the indy circuit. Primarily, Bishop has been active in the Tennessee area, racking up victories wherever he goes. While his career is just getting started, this man is no stranger to gold. In his pro wrestling debut last February, he won the ACW Tag Team Championship in the very last event at Michael's 8th Avenue in Baltimore.

"Ruthless" Jason Radatz - Once a tag team specialist as one half of the WildCardz with Eddie Page, Radatz has stepped into his own over the last several years, traveling up and down the east coast and competing against the very best in indy wrestling. In addition to the many Tag Team Championships that Radatz has won, he has won many singles championships. He has most recently held the Elite Pro Heavyweight Championship.

MADD Maxx Morrison - The Wild Eyed Headbanger has been no stranger to championships over the last 2 years. He has won gold in Western PA for Eclipse Wrestling in the past year. Can he cap off #theshockingdebut by adding the Voltage Wrestling Grand Championship to his resume.

"Triple Fears" Kevin Mears - Recently, Mears stated that he put over 40,000 miles on his vehicle traveling across the country to learn and work with the very best in the pro wrestling world. We've recently seen him performing regularly for School of Morton, a promotion ran by WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Morton. Before the pandemic, he had already established himself as an area mainstay. While he has won gold here in the i-81 corridor, he has never been a heavyweight champion locally. That could all change with 3 wins on June 5th.

"The Kingpin of Riot City" Sicend - This man has been a cornerstone of area wrestling for the last 10 years. We've lost count on how many Light Heavyweight Championships Sicend has won. This man has won over 15 Tag Team Championships over the course of his career. Of course, we would be selling this competitor short if we didn't mention the year long reign as Adrenaline Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. This man is no stranger to winning tournaments as he was the very first King of Maryland Tournament winner. A Grand Championship Tournament win is not outside the realm of likelihood.

Myles Millennium - Consider this man the wildcard of the tournament. Myles is an incredibly gifted athlete with an ego about his big as his ability. When we asked other Voltage Wrestling competitors to describe Myles Millennium in a few words, "The IT Factor" was mentioned by several competitors. Everything about this athlete just shouts "champion." However, to win a championship, you have to earn it.

Can this man best 3 other competitors en route to a Grand Championship? More importantly, who will be the final two competitors announced for the tournament? That we will find out Saturday on The Podcast Pit. With the athletes already announced, you can be sure the final two announced will be nothing short of top tier talent.

BE THERE in Martinsburg, WV LIVE on June 5th when Voltage Wrestling debuts at O'Connell's Irish Pub. Purchase your tickets soon as great seats are going fast. You do not want to miss #theshockingdebut

The Shocking Debut- Postponed

8/10/2020

Picture
I wanted to give everyone a heads up in regards to whats happening with the debut event.
While we were hoping to get another venue Pennsylvania, due to increased increased restrictions, that option has fell through and with the restrictions still in place in WV unfortunately, we must postpone the event. While this is a setback in the short-term, it is going to be a blessing in disguise.

With COVID numbers dropping in nearby regions, we expect restrictions to begin to be lifted in late August- early September, which would pave the way for quick and easy rescheduling. We plan to keep everyone up to date with the latest news regarding the new date. If you have purchased tickets for this event and wish to get a refund, you can do so through Brown Paper Tickets as early as August 11th.

Be sure to visit us here at voltagewrestling.com for the latest news and updates on when The Shocking debut, will be taking place.

7/27/2020

Picture
By now, I am sure you all have heard about the restrictions on outdoor events in West Virginia. While this means that we will not be able to stage our event in West Virginia, one thing is for sure...... THE SHOW WILL GO ON.

Currently, we are working with a venue and officials in a nearby state to stage The Shocking Debut as planned. We hope to have details regarding this change by the end of the the week. The new location will be much more convenient for all of our fans.

Having said that, please be advised that due to the current situation with the COVID-19 Pandemic, Social Distancing measures will be in place. That means:

-Seats will be spaced out and cleaned throughout the night to provide safety to all attendees
-Masks and face coverings must be worn when you are not seated
-We will only be accepting electronic payments for admission. We encourage you to buy your tickets in advance here at voltagewrestling.com or via our ticketing outlet, BrownPaperTickets.

We look forward to providing both a safe and fun night of entertainment for the whole family. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you on August 21st for The Shocking Debut.

Sicend added to the Voltage Wrestling roster

6/19/2020

Picture
Voltage Wrestling is proud to announce that Sicend has been added to the Voltage Wrestling roster. This is the third roster announcement thus far with many more talents to come.

Sicend, one of the premier high-flyers in the 4 state region has put together an impressive resume in his 11 year career. As a singles competitor, he has captured every major light-heavyweight championship in the area as well as several heavyweight championships. The same thing goes for his time as a tag team competitor. As a member of Riot City’s Most Wanted, there’s not a tag team championship in the area he has not held. This is the type of competitor that we here at Voltage Wrestling want to present to our audience.

There are more MAJOR roster announcements to come. Please check back for more updates throughout next week, INCLUDING the announcement of our very first event. Things are definitely heating up this summer leading to our debut.
